Position:  Clinical Director - Addiction Medicine Services

Region:  Guelph & Wellington


We are looking for an innovative, passionate and results-driven individual to provide leadership and clinical expertise as Clinical Director for our Addiction Medicine Services Team.  What the job entails: 

  • Provide guidance, strategic direction and clinical and operational support in the Addictions Medicine Services program.
  • Direct the development and evaluation of all phases of the treatment program based on best practice standards, quality indicators and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Direct and lead an interdisciplinary team and ensuring that all team members are working within the established guidelines and standards set by their applicable college or associations.
  • Consult and collaborate with program clinicians and interdisciplinary staff regarding program development and patient care including identifying the clinical needs of the target population.
  • Develop and maintain the annual operating and capital budget of the program to achieve revenue and occupancy targets and ensure a balanced budget.
  • Work with Senior Management to create innovative and effective connection between Addiction Medicine Services and Homewood’s national network for step-down and aftercare services.
  • Support, promote and collaborate with other departments in the delivery and strategic learning across the organization with regards to Addictions Medicine. 
  • Identify areas and gaps for scientific research and development within existing and developing treatment models.
  • Identifying opportunities to actively participate in addiction research via Homewood Research Institute and as an adjunct faculty member of McMaster University, and potentially other academic institutions. 

What we are looking for:

  • A strong, passionate and influential leader with extensive experience in the field of addiction
  • PhD/Psy. D. Psychology preferred or advanced degree related to Addiction and/or Mental health
  • 5 + years of clinical experience including 3 years managing clinical staff in both union and non-union settings
  • Expert-knowledge in program development, administrative principles and evaluation techniques related to Addiction
  • Excellent community-building, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to prioritize and function effectively in a demanding and challenging environment
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and community mental health resources
  • Excellent computer skills.
