Ontario Honours the Memory of the Afzaal Family

TORONTO - Today, Graham McGregor, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism issued the following statement:

“Four years ago today, a hateful and cowardly act of terrorism in London, Ontario took the lives of four members of the Afzaal family and left a young boy without his parents. It was a senseless and heartbreaking tragedy.

On this solemn anniversary, we honour the memory of the Afzaal family. Our government stands in solidarity with Ontario’s Muslim community in condemning Islamophobia, hatred and racism. Every person has the right to live their faith and traditions in safety and without fear. There’s no place for hate of any kind in Ontario, now or ever.

Today, we remember a family taken far too soon. We reaffirm our commitment to building a safer, stronger and more inclusive Ontario for everyone.

May their memory continue to inspire action, compassion and lasting change.”
