Service Description:
|
Food poisoning cases, complaints and food recalls are investigated by Public Health Inspectors and food premises such as restaurants, day care centres and institutions are inspected regularly.
- conducts surveillance and inspections of food premises that sell or serve prepared food to the public to ensure regulatory standards are being met
- responds to reports of food-borne illnesses or outbreaks, unsafe food handling practices, food recalls, adulteration and consumer complaints
- liaises with special event coordinators and food vendors to ensure adherence to safe food handling practices
- provides information, support, and food handler training and certification for businesses and the public on how to handle food safely
- maintains Dinewise, a mandatory food safety program that discloses food safety inspection results at food premises and online
